Flaharty and Loan Continue To Lead Tour of Fairbanks GC

Tyson Flaharty and Sheryl Loan continue to hold comfortable leads in the 2013 Tour of Fairbanks bike race.  After a double-stage day on Saturday Goldstream Sports' Flaharty has a 2:23 lead on Anchorage's Richard Tilton of Kaladi-Subway.  Loan (Kaladi-Subway) has an even more comfortable advantage - 5:30 over teammate Jeni Winegarner. The morning saw all riders compete over a 30Km course in an individual time trial.  Flaharty and Loan Ruled the stage with times of 40:11 and 45:18 respectively.  In the afternoon, the open/expert men had a 65-mile road race, while all other classes went 58 miles.  Will Ross (Pipsport/Chain Reaction) won the open/expert class in 2:28:14 in a 13-up pack sprint.  Alisabeth Thurston Hicks (ColoBikeLaw) outsprinted four breakaway companions to win the women's 58-miles.  Gary Baumgartner won the 10-man sprint in the 58-mile men's masters/sport/junior race.

The Tour of Fairbanks concludes tomorrow with the Globe Creek Road Race, starting and finishing on the Elliott Highway in Fox.  Open/expert men go 75 miles, while all other classes ride 60 miles.
